In 2021, the FNB Wines2Whales turned things on their head by switching back on itself and taking teams from the coast to the vineyards during the inaugural FNB Wines2Whales Switchback. Though in 2022, the race returns to its origins as the traditional route is back on the cards! Entries are now open on wines2whales.com and prices are frozen until 31 March! From 28 October to 6 November 2022, teams will tackle the original FNB Wines2Whales route from Lourensford Wine Estate to Oak Valley Estate, and then on to the whales of Hermanus. Though when the phrase ‘original’ is used, it doesn’t mean exactly the same route as was last raced in 2019.
By now everyone knows that Race Founder, Johan Kriegler (affectionately known as JK) and the Cape Trails team of trail-building-magicians have a passion for creating trails that induce ear-to-ear grins; therefore teams who enter the 2022 FNB Wines2Whales can expect all the usual trails that they’ve come to know and love, and are guaranteed many new twists, turns and bridges.
And yes, a trek up Gantouw Pass is included once again!
Entries to the 2022 FNB Wines2Whales include so much more than just three days packed with incredible riding on some of South Africa’s most exciting trails. Depending on the entry package chosen, teams will also secure themselves: - Three days of world-class riding - Amazing breakfast, lunch, and dinner from Woolworths - Tented Accommodation* - As many post-stage milkshakes as you can drink - Nutrition, on the route and in the race village, from USN - Ciovita rider jersey - Ciovita casual garment to wear in the race village and around town after the race - Bikewash and lube from Kranzle and Squirt Cycling Products - Safe parking for your steed in the Stor-Age Bike Hotel - The chance to make memories as your race alongside like-minded individuals - Serious GEES!

In 2022, there are several entry packages available to teams and they range from ride only to living it up in style in the Luxury tents.
Ride only: teams stay offsite and meals are not included in the entry fee. All accommodation and transport is to be self-arranged.

Standard tent: each rider in the team is allocated their own single tent and the entry includes meals and all the goodies.
Double Luxury tents: each team is allocated a large canvas tent to share. The tent is complete with carpeted flooring, beds and linen, and camping chairs for kicking back and relaxing. Think of it as home away from home while at the FNB Wines2Whales.
Single Luxury tents: each rider in the team is allocated their own luxury canvas tent and the tents are also complete with carpeted flooring, a bed and linen, and a camping chair for taking a load off after the stage.
